Sven Patuschka is the Chief Technology Officer of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, leading a global R&D team of over 2000 engineers across India, Italy, and the UK. With over 25 years of R&D leadership in automotive OEMs, he specializes in full vehicle projects, Electrical & Electronics, Autonomous Driving, Connected Services, User Experience and Battery/Charging for New Energy Vehicles. Prior to Tata Motors, he led Hyundai’s R&D in China, implementing cutting-edge features like Over The Air (OTA) updates and Level 2+ autonomous driving. During his stint in Volkswagen group, he spearheaded connected service products and HV battery systems development. Sven holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany.

The global automotive landscape is increasingly shaped by the digital experiences offered in vehicles. Asia, including India, is at the forefront of this transformation. The shift towards 5G+ connectivity and Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs) will further highlight the importance of seamless digital experiences in our vehicles. Incorporating safety, health, and wellbeing through affordable technologies is essential, but it is the intuitive and seamless user experience that provides emotional engagement with users, that will set vehicles apart in the future. While the potential of this shift is enormous and highly rewarding, the challenges including data privacy and security are equally significant. This necessitates greater collaboration among OEMs and ecosystem partners.
